Ego consists of eight casual dining restaurants based in the Midlands and the North West and serve popular Mediterranean dishes in a relaxed setting.
The business is majority owned between Luke Johnson and James Horler and Luke is non executive Chairman of 3Sixty Restaurants Ltd.
Cartwheel Recruitment Ltd is a management hospitality recruitment business based in Nottingham and provides permanent candidates for positions available with the contract catering, facilities management, restaurant/bars, and stadia across the UK.
Charterhouse Leisure Ltd trades under the name of Coal Bar and Grill and Severn Shed.
Ping Pong is a chain of Dim Sum restaurants with sites in London, Washington DC (USA), Sau Paulo (Brazil) and Dubai (Middle East)
James Horler, was born in 1965, started his career at the age of 16, working as a kitchen porter and waiter for Trusthouse Forte. He progressed to conference and banqueting manager and food and beverage manager before transferring to the group’s roadside business. Here, he quickly rose from unit manager to become Little Chef’s youngest regional director at the age of 24.
Horler moved to Granada to oversee nine motorway service areas with an annual turnover of £210m and 2,900 staff. From 1996, Horler was managing director of Frankie & Benny’s, where he developed the brand to 65 restaurants over a five year period.
In September 2001, Horler bought La Tasca for £28.2m with backing from Penta Capital and HBOS. Early 2004 saw the group float on the Alternative Investment Market, with Penta retaining a 23% stake.
Horler left the tapas chain in June 2007 after completion of it’s purchase to Robert Tchenguiz’s investment vehicle, R20 for £134m.
James was an Acorn Award winner in 1994 and a Catey Award winner for Group Restaurateur in 2004.
